Zion National Park Lodging

Lodging at Comfort Inn St. George makes a great base camp for exploring Zion National Park, a breathtaking spectacle of colorful sandstone scenery. Utah’s oldest and most visited national park, Zion’s 229 square miles display the results of millions of years of erosion, from wind and water, primarily by the Virgin River. Mormon settlers named the park after an ancient Hebrew word that means “sanctuary” or “place of refuge.”

Zion National Park’s most visited area is Zion Canyon. This gorge boasts enormous sandstone monoliths that tower 2,000 to 3,000 feet above the canyon floor. The 6.5-mile Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is the only way to access the canyon’s unparalleled scenery. From April to October, visitors must ride a mandatory shuttle up the canyon. Shuttle drivers highlight the canyon’s geology and history, pointing out its major formations, including the Court of the Patriarchs, Angels Landing and The Great White Throne, probably the park’s most-photographed formation. Kolob Canyons, a lesser-known area in Zion’s northwestern corner, boasts red sandstone canyons and monoliths. It is home to the trailhead to Kolob Arch, one world’s largest natural arches. After a fun-filled day in Zion National Park, return to your lodging accommodations at Comfort Inn and relax in our swimming pool or one of our hot tubs.

Zion National Park lies only 45 minutes from Comfort Inn St. George, an ideal lodging option when visiting southern Utah. Our hotel’s convenient location just off Interstate 15 on exit 6 offers instant access to the Dixie Convention Center and fine restaurants such as Tony Roma’s, Claim Jumper and the Cracker Barrel. Five of the area’s nine golf courses lie within a six-mile radius. Southgate Golf Course is just across the freeway! If you are searching for nearby entertainment, look no further than Fiesta Family Fun Center and The Cinemas, a six-screen movie theater. Both are less than a mile a way.
